Community projects to get €30m grants from council

WATERFORD County Council has launched a new scheme of capital grants worth €30 million with the aim of providing the county with a range of recreational and community facilities.

The grants will be made available to community groups and will contribute towards the capital costs of approved projects.

Brian White, Director of Services, says it will have an impact right throughout the community. “In 2004, the Development Contributions Scheme adopted by the Council provided for a contribution by new developments, towards the provision of open spaces, recreational and community facilities and amenities and landscaping works.
