Experts to untangle electronic voting

At a meeting yesterday, ministers agreed to establish a sub-committee to examine the findings of the report of the Electronic Voting Commission and identify any improvements that can be brought to the much-criticised system.

The sub-committee will consider the appointment of a “peer group” of international experts to advise it on the best way to address the 41 issues identified in the report, especially in relation to manufacturing software.

The sub-committee will be chaired by Environment Minister Dick Roche. It other members are Michael McDowell, Noel Dempsey and Brian Cowen.
