Frequency of trains set to double

Transport Minister Martin Cullen made the announcement in Cork yesterday at the official unveiling of the new €120 million Cork to Dublin intercity carriages.

The 67 carriages, part of the Government’s €440m investment in 217 carriages for all intercity routes, will increase capacity on the Cork to Dublin route by 80% to 16,000 seats and cut journey time to two hours. More than €4m people travelled on the route last year.
