Delays hit 1,500 passengers as Aer Lingus staff meet

AROUND 1,500 Aer Lingus passengers were stuck at Dublin Airport for up to an hour yesterday after hundreds of check-in staff, cabin crew and baggage handlers held a protest meeting at plans to privatise the airline.

The SIPTU union called a 75-minute mandatory meeting in the morning but the delays had an effect until mid-afternoon.

Passengers whose flights arrived during the stoppage were allowed off but had to wait for their baggage until the strike ended at 11am.
