Chinese race ahead to join gardaí

CHINESE applicants are tops among the ethnic minorities seeking to join the gardaí. A total of 1,310 applicants to join the force indicated they were in an ethnic category other than “white Irish”.

The breakdown of applicants attending the second, aptitude test stage showed 463 of the 867 non-Irish were Chinese.

They have outnumbered by two-to-one all other non-Irish applicants making it to the final interview stage in the current recruitment.
