AMID continued criticism from unions and opposition parties Transport Minister Seamus Brennan yesterday published the long-awaited legislation for the break up of Aer Rianta.

However, under the terms of the State Airports Bill 2004, Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports will not be operating independently until at least May next year.

And, following a deal hammered out with unions and Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy at last week's pay talks, separate business plans must be drawn up for each of the three airports.
