City protests planned
A fleet of buses will ferry anti-war protestors from Cork to Shannon this afternoon.
The Cork protestors plan to join with anti-war groups from across the country outside the airport for a major demonstration as President Bush lands around 8.15pm.
They will be back in Cork tonight and will lead another anti-war protest in the city centre tomorrow.
A poll in Waterford showed up to 80% of residents are opposed to the visit. Councillor John Halligan said: “They are not anti-American, they are anti-war. There is an opportunity for us now to show how we are opposed to the illegal invasion of Iraq.”
