Memory loss man in Pierre Cardin suit found on streets

Gardaí could not establish anything about him or what, if anything, had happened to him.

He was found on North Earl Street, in the north inner city, not far from O’Connell Street, at 11pm on Valentine’s Day.

“He was found by gardaí in the Store Street area. He was lost and confused, in a bewildered state,” said Garda Andrew Hawkshaw of Mountjoy Garda Station.

The man, who originally called himself “Maxmillan”, did not appear to have any injuries which might indicate if an attack had taken place.

Nor did he look destitute wearing a light grey pin-striped Pierre Cardin suit and shirt, a black tie and black slip-on shoes He carried a small suitcase containing items of clothing.

He is in his early 30s, has black hair, blue eyes and a sallow complexion. He weighs around 12 stone, is 5ft 8in tall and of medium build. He appears to be a non-national. Gardaí initially thought he may be South African.

“He talked about South Africa an awful lot,” said Garda Muireann O’Leary of Mountjoy Station. “But, his accent was more Russian or Eastern European. It could be that he worked in South Africa for some time.”

Earlier this week, gardaí thought they were making some progress.

“He gave the second name of Jordaan, and he also gave an email address. Unfortunately, he didn’t have a password, so our IT people are looking at that,” said Gda O’Leary.

But the leads have not really led gardaí very far. They have taken his fingerprints to see if they can match them on their own database and anywhere else in the world.

Medical experts haven’t been able to establish what has caused “Jordaan’s” memory loss.

“We’re not too sure whether he’s mentally ill or what’s wrong with him. He could be suffering from a number of things,” said Gda Hawkshaw.

Anyone with any information which might help in identifying “Jordaan” should contact gardaí at Mountjoy Station on 01-666 8600, or any garda station.
