News anchor’s pearly whites dazzle judges
Ryan Tubridy makes the top five, while Cork GAA dual star Seán Óg Ó hAilpin scores again.
Confirmation of Ms Doyle’s winning ways emerged at a glittering event in Dublin last evening. And the feisty fiftysomething Wexford woman was nearly lost for words.
“I’m shocked and delighted,” said Ms Doyle, on being voted top smile in the Social & Personal magazine poll.
“I’m delighted to see it’s not just young ones of 18 who are featuring on the list. I am very happy it was broad enough to include my age group.”
Fashion photographer Barry McCall, one of the judges, explained his choice of Ms Doyle. “I was looking for somebody that when they smile puts you in good form. It’s also the warmth of the smile. Anne’s smashing,” she said.
Young Tubridy’s pearly whites earned him a top five placing among the 100 selected smilers.
Miss World Rosanna Davison and model Glenda Gilson joined him in the final shake up.
Foreign Minister Brian Cowen got the nod for cheesy smile, an honour shared with wee Daniel O’Donnell. Mouthy smile went to Eamon Dunphy (“especially at 4am”), with Niall Quinn the pundits sporty smile.
: Catwalk - Amanda Brunker; TV - Amanda Byram; Doorstopping - Valerie Roe; Broad smile - Miriam O’Callaghan and Gerry Ryan; Hearty - Christina Noble; Friendly - President McAleese.
Thwarted presidential candidate Dana was voted “disarming” smile.
And Kerry McFadden, in and out of the jungle, entered the list as a “bright” smiler.
