Watchdog backs claims IRA was behind bank raid

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern is set to receive further confirmation this morning that the IRA is to blame for the Northern Bank robbery.

The independent watchdog overseeing paramilitary activity is expected to support claims that the IRA was behind the raid.

Ahead of its anticipated publication of a report into the robbery next week, members of the Independent Monitoring Commission will meet with Mr Ahern at Government Buildings to discuss its findings to date.
