Competition Authority to probe runway access

BUSINESSMAN Ulick McEvaddy said yesterday he is confident that the Competition Authority will allow him access to Dublin Airport runway, clearing the way for him to build a third terminal there.

Competition Authority to probe runway access

Mr McEvaddy is seeking access to the runway on the grounds that it is an essential facility that should be open to users other than the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA). The DAA management revealed plans to build a second terminal at Dublin Airport on Tuesday as part of a 10-year expansion plan costing €1.2 billion.

But Mr McEvaddy and his brother Desmond were among 13 private investors who had “expressed an interest” in building the second terminal at Dublin Airport before the Government decided the building and ownership should stay in State hands.
