Developers face €2.6m tribunal costs bill

BUILDERS Tom Brennan and Joseph McGowan must pay their own legal costs of over €2.6 million after the Planning Tribunal ruled the State was not obliged to foot their bill.

The Mayo developers could also face paying other tribunal costs after a warning from chairman Judge Alan Mahon that he was considering pursuing unco-operative witnesses for the expense of probing their tangled affairs.

His warning came a day after he delivered a similar ruling that the State would not be picking up the tab for the €10.5 million legal bill that former minister Ray Burke ran up over several years of involvement with the tribunal.
