Gardaí probe double Dublin murders

The body of the mother-of-two was discovered yesterday afternoon after gardaí received an emergency call from neighbours.

Det Insp Christy Mangan of Fitzgibbon Street Station said gardaí were following a definite line of inquiry.

Gardaí from Mountjoy were alerted by a neighbours who became aware of a disturbance in the three-storey complex at Royal Canal Bank Way at around 2.15pm.

The dead woman was named locally as Natasha Gray. Married to a Nigerian man, the couple have two young children whom it is believed were also in the building yesterday afternoon.

It is believed that Ms Gray was still alive when ambulance crews arrived at the scene in an attempt to resuscitate her. She was dead on arrival at hospital.

The deputy State pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy was last night conducting a post-mortem on the body of the victim to establish the exact cause of death.

However, Garda sources indicated that the woman's injuries appeared to have resulted from being hit by a blunt object.

Meanwhile, detectives in Tallaght are also investigating the death of a man in his 20s or 30s whose body was found on open ground in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains.

A passer-by out walking noticed a body at Killinarden Hill about two miles from the centre of Tallaght shortly after 2pm.

The scene was preserved as gardaí await the results of a post-mortem examination.
