PARENTS are furious the Dunne Inquiry into the organ retention controversy, which has already cost the taxpayer €20 million, is being wound up without a conclusive report.

The decision by Tánaiste and Health Minister Mary Harney to fold the inquiry into post-mortem practices in Irish hospitals has been met with dismay by the Parents for Justice lobby group, which met Ms Harney yesterday to discuss the future of the inquiry.

Parents for Justice was set up in 1999 by four mothers who discovered their deceased children’s organs had been retained without their consent.
