EXACTLY one year ago, Waterford mother-of-two Margaret Turner was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in her right breast. She’s the third member of her family to be struck with cancer, yet the malignant growth still hasn’t been removed.

Alarm bells went off when she was diagnosed. Her sister, Eileen O’Brien, is still being treated for cancer, also in her right breast. And her mother, Margaret O’Reilly, died from the disease.

The 48-year-old woman has to travel to Cork for radiotherapy treatment. On one occasion, she was told the hospital was so busy she would have to make the two-hour journey home, without the eight-minute treatment.
