The electorate currently stands at 2,923,918. Polling stations will be open in all 42 constituencies from 9am to 9pm.

Polling cards have been posted to voters’ homes. Each card contains details of the voter’s number on the register, the date of the poll and the location of the polling station.

Evidence of identity may be required at polling stations. Acceptable identity documents are a passport, a driving licence, an employee identity card with a photograph, a travel document, a bank or savings or credit union book, a cheque book, a cheque card, a credit card, a birth certificate, a marriage cert.

To vote for the referendum, mark X in the square beside “Tá/Yes” on the ballot paper. To vote against, mark X in the square beside “Níl/No” on the ballot paper.

Electronic voting will be in operation in seven constituencies - Dublin Mid-West, Dublin North, Dublin South, Dublin South-West, Dublin West, Dun Laoghaire and Meath.

The vote count in the electronic voting constituencies will begin at 9pm tonight with results expected around midnight.

Vote counting in the remaining 35 constituencies will begin at 9am on Sunday morning at count centres throughout the country.

Individual constituency results will be forwarded to the Central Count Centre at Dublin Castle where a final result is expected between 4pm and 6pm on Sunday.
