Garda’s wife felt her ‘life was a lie’

Sheenagh McMahon, whose allegations against her estranged detective husband Noel and a garda superintendent are central to the inquiry into improper activities, told the investigation that up to that point she had regarded garda operations as "all about saving lives".

She learned the truth after reporting a threat to herself and her family from IRA informant Adrienne McGlinchey, named by Mrs McMahon as being involved with Noel and currently suspended Supt Kevin Lennon in preparing explosives for fake terrorist arms hauls in a shed beside her home in Co Donegal.
