TWO men arrested and questioned by gardaí in connection with the death of a lap dancer last month were in custody last night.

Two questioned over headless body murder

The duo can be held for a further 24 hours at Dublin’s Bridewell and Store Street garda stations.

The second man is understood to have come into Ireland via Austria in the past ten days and is also being questioned in relation to an investigation into the production of false documentation.

Both men were arrested in Dublin late on Tuesday evening as part of the month-long investigation into the discovery of the headless remains of Malawian-born Paiche Unyolo. Her decomposed body was wrapped in black plastic and found dumped under a bridge in south Kilkenny on July 23.

Concern is growing over the whereabouts of the dead woman’s husband, 31-year-old Nigerian Chika Onyemaechi. He disappeared from their home in Waterford city in the days between the recovery of her remains and her funeral.

Mr Onyemaechi reported his 25 year-old wife missing on July 8. He told gardaí that she had left their home at St Herblain Park in Waterford city without trace.

Less than three weeks later, shortly after noon on July 23, her decomposed remains were found less than 15 miles from their Waterford city home.

The mother of two’s body, which was spotted by two sisters out for a walk, was covered in a refuse bag and dumped under a bridge in Piltown, south Kilkenny.

The couple’s two children have since returned to Malawi with the dead woman’s father, Malawian chief justice Leonard Unyolo; her brother, Leon; her sister, Lucy; and sister-in-law, Thoko Unyolo.
