Murder probe as woman’s body found
A murder investigation was launched following the discovery of the body on Saturday afternoon.
The woman is believed to have been murdered elsewhere and her body dumped in the derelict shed on farmland at Eadestown, between Naas and Blessington.
A farmer discovered the body of the woman, in her late teens or early 20s, about 2.15pm.
A post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday at Naas General Hospital but the gardaí initially did not release the results as further toxicology tests had to be carried out.
Chief Superintendent Sean Feeley, Naas Garda Station, confirmed his belief that the body was dumped in the shed as there was no sign of a struggle at the scene.
He appealed to anyone who travelled along the road last week to come forward as they may have information that could help the investigation.
Detectives, who have set up an incident room at Naas Garda Station, appealed for a man who phoned gardaí in Dublin to contact them again. Chief Supt Feeley said he has vital information that would progress the investigation considerably.
The partially decomposed body had by yesterday evening not been officially identified but detectives were in touch with the families of six women reported missing in recent weeks. It is believed the body was in the shed for a number of days.
A garda spokesman said they were investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the woman’s body.
The spokesman added: “Earlier this week, a man made a telephone call to gardaí in Dublin relating to this case. Chief Supt Sean Feeley, Naas, is appealing for this man to make contact again as he has vital information that will assist the investigation considerably.”
