EU proposal seeks assistance and protection for trafficked immigrants

IMMIGRANTS trafficked into Ireland should have access to assistance, protection and compensation under new EU proposals.

The plans due to form the basis of a forthcoming EU directive would significantly alter the rights of people trafficked into the country.

But refugee experts here fear the Government will fight against implementing the directive.
