IRELAND, with twice the economic growth and half the unemployment of the rest of the EU, has to do much better just to stay successful, warned Commissioner Charlie McCreevy.

The former Finance Minister said the country is not doing well in certain areas and must improve. Now responsible for the EU’s internal market, Mr McCreevy was commenting on the plan to boost growth and jobs in the EU.

This includes increasing growth from its current 2% to 3%, which would create an estimated six million jobs.
