City launches Tall Ships festivities
Members of the national and international media arrived in the city yesterday to hear details of the festival programme which coincides with the arrival of the world’s largest tall ships to the city from July 6-9.With tens of thousands of sailing crew members and visitors from around the world expected in Waterford, the programme is planned to reflect the diversity of cultures taking part.
“We realise the ships and the crew are the real stars of the event so we have developed a shore-based programme to reflect the diversity of cultures and add to the entertainment value for visitors during the three days,” said TV Honan, director of the city’s Spraoi company.
