WEXFORD'S local authority yesterday voted down plans for a controversial incinerator for the south-east by 12 votes to seven.

The county council was forced to take a vote yesterday because of a legal deadline which looms next week.

Members had visited incinerators in Denmark and London. Some were in favour of incineration following their visit, including Independent Padge Reck. Others were vehemently opposed to an incinerator on their doorstep.
