Garda air support unit joins fight against joyriding epidemic in city

More than 80 cars have been stolen during this period by teenage gangs who have caused hundreds of thousands of euros worth of damage. Many of the vehicles ended up as write-offs.

Senior gardaí say there doesn’t seem to be any specific reason for the upsurge, but acknowledge it’s the worst they have seen in the last five years.
