Martin is ‘people’s choice’ to be next leader of FF

HEALTH Minister Micheál Martin is the people's choice to become the next leader of Fianna Fáil, whenever the Taoiseach decides to call it a day, a survey revealed at the weekend.

This marks a big turnaround in the popularity of the Cork man, who only a year ago was being written off as the "the former future leader of Fianna Fáil".

The Health Minister's second term in the Department, dubbed "Angola" by his predecessor Brian Cowen because of all the potential political land mines, was regarded as the main obstacle to his leadership chances.
