Major housing project gets all clear
Planning officials in County Hall have given the company the green light to develop 429 homes, a 24-bed nursing home, creche and a recreation area which will consist of tennis courts and a football pitch. The project is to be undertaken at Castleredmond.
Meanwhile, German discount retailer Aldi has lodged a planning application for a supermarket in Mitchelstown. The company is proposing to build a single-storey supermarket and a 999-space car park at Dublin Road, Brigown.
Developer Joe Hallissey, who is based at Sullivan’s Quay in Cork City, is looking for permission to construct 43 homes at Greenane, Kanturk. The proposed project includes 34 two-storey semi-detached houses and nine two-storey townhouses.
Another developer, David O’Connell, from Douglas, has his eyes set on a project at Curraghconway, Frankfield, where he wants to build 24 apartments and 37 car parking spaces.
Trevor O’Brien and Joe Young, developers based in Co Limerick, have been given approval to proceed with building a number of new homes at Glennahulla, near Mitchelstown. They will construct 16 townhouses and three bungalows as well as carrying out site development works for 13 two-storey homes.
Robert Kouwenberg has lodged an application for 52 dwellings in the village of Conna. He is hoping to get approval for 18 semi-detached houses, 33 terraced houses, nine apartments and four retail units.
Meanwhile, Bweeng Development Committee has lodged an objection with An Bord Pleanála against permission granted by Cork Co Council for the construction of 80 houses in the north Cork village.
