Seeking positive school evidence a ‘whitewash’

THE Laffoy Commission decision’s to solicit evidence from those with positive experience of Irish industrial schools has been branded a “whitewash” by the leader of the 800-member Survivors of Child Abuse.

“We will not be recommending that our members continue to co-operate with the inquiry if they go ahead with this,” John Kelly said yesterday.

He was responding to the change in procedures announced by the Laffoy Commission and its decision to seek evidence from people other than victims of abuse.
