Prisoner’s escape baffles jail bosses

PRISON bosses are baffled as to how a violent inmate managed to escape from a hospital despite being handcuffed and escorted there by three officers.

It is the third such prison escape in less than a month.

Stephen Walsh, serving an eight-year sentence for a violent robbery, managed to give three prison officers the slip while attending the Mater Hospital, in Dublin’s north inner city, on Thursday night.
