Blow to first-time buyers as house prices soar 7%

THE average price of a three-bedroom semi-detached house could increase by as much as €17,500 this year, putting further pressure on those looking to purchase their own home.

The outlook will come as a blow to first-time buyers in particular, one in three of whom opt for this type of house.

They can expect to pay over €261,000 for such a property by the end of the year.
