Music fans in for feast in Dublin this summer
The list of acts playing at BudRising 2005 include The Pixies, Kings of Leon, Scissors Sisters, Franz Ferdinand, Maroon 5, the Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx and DJ Mylo.
The four massive events in August will rock Dublin’s Lansdowne Road stadium and Marley Park.
The top international acts will be following on the back of a seven day rock ‘n’ roll extravaganza - the BudRising Festival - also in Dublin in June.
The week-long festival kicks off on June 1 with live performances from Echo and the Bunnymen at The Village and Whitey at Whelans.
Scottish DJ Mylo, up-and-coming Irish band The Chalets, Beck, The Hives, Tom Vek, Weezer, British Sea Power and The Kills will also play at different Dublin venues.
One of the festival organisers said: “It is bigger and better this year. This is the second year of BudRising, and there is a lot more buzz around the festival.
“We have taken what worked well last year and concentrated on that.Last year it ran over 10-days and there were 100 gigs.
“This year will see the bands play 23 venues over a seven-day period, it is all about quality music. It has a tight programme and we are aiming to create a festival feel right in the city centre.”
Other acts performing at BudRising in June will include the recently reformed LAs, Buck 65 and soul legend Marlena Shaw.
Tickets are already on sale for the week-long series of gigs, while tickets for the four shows in August can be purchased from May 6.
The Pixies and the Kings of Leon are to take to the stage at Lansdowne Road on August 23 - after The Pixies rocked almost 120,000 music fans in the Phoenix Park last summer.
The following day the Brit award winning Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand & Maroon 5 will set the stadium jumping.
The Chemical Brothers are also set for a return trip following their sell-out gig at the Point earlier this year. The band will set the scene at Marley Park on August 19, while Basement Jaxx, Underworld and DJ Mylo will get the party started the following night.
Tickets for the Lansdowne Road gigs will cost from €59.50 including booking fee, while Marley Park is priced from €54.50.
Music fans can also snap up tickets for all four gigs for €150.
