House has six en-suite bedrooms with four-poster beds in each
The 46-year-old Limerick mother-of-six has appealed for privacy since she won the €115m jackpot. And she’ll get plenty of it on the 38 acres of land at Ogonnelloe in Co Clare.
But while Dolores has tried to retain a life of normality, she’ll be aware her new home once attracted the interest of actor Robert de Niro.
The house is built on 10,000 sq ft with six en-suite bedrooms each with four-poster beds.
It also includes seven bathrooms and a large kitchen.
Dolores and her family will be able to enjoy summer barbecues on the extensive decking around the house that overlooks the lower end of Lough Derg.
It will be easily secured as there is a half mile entrance drive way leading from a gate lodge.
Limerick auctioneer Pat Kearney said he could not comment on speculation that Dolores had purchased the home. His company, Rooney Auctioneers, has had the home on its books for the past three years and refused to be drawn on reports the Euromillions winner had splashed out on the country-style house built in the late 1990s.
Mr Kearney said: “We are handcuffed as regards comment. But has anybody denied the report?”
It is understood Dolores beat off a counter-bid by signing the contract first - albeit at €250,000 under the asking price.
Ms McNamara has been on the lookout for a new home and wants to move out of her home in St Patrick’s Road, Garryowen because she has no privacy. Her close friend and adviser, publican Paddy Tobin said yesterday he was not aware Ms McNamara had purchased a new home. However, he said: “Some weeks ago I introduced Dolores to Gordon Kearney (son of Pat Kearney) of Rooney Auctioneers as she was interested in buying a property in the Killaloe area. They went out to view a property but that’s all I know.”
For the time being, Dolores is preparing for Christmas at home in Garryowen and has ordered a 20lb turkey and smoked Limerick ham from her local butcher, Brendan Loughnane.
Her last significant property purchase was a site at the new cemetery at Castlemungret where she purchased a family plot for €2,000. Her mother, who died last October was laid to rest there. After her win, Dolores ‘parked’ her money in a Limerick bank account which earns approximately €8,000 a day in interest.
