Anti-social families must be tackled, says councillor

WATERFORD city urgently needs a full-time enforcer to “root out” and evict families responsible for anti-social behaviour, a local councillor has claimed.

Worker Party councillor John Halligan has called for officials in the city council to abandon “feelgood talk” and tackle the problem in a proactive manner.

“If they are making peoples’ lives a misery in estates, whether it is a local authority estate or a private estate, evict them - get them out and get them to court and don’t put them back on the housing list,” Mr Halligan said.
