Just eight Revenue officers chase Ansbacher
The low number of taxmen investigating the biggest tax fraud in Irish history contrasts starkly with the numbers pursuing social welfare fraudsters. The eight full-time officers in the Revenue Commissioners, backed by an administration staff of 22, are working on Ansbacher and related investigations.
The Department of Social and Family Affairs has more than 600 staff dedicated solely to “control activities” investigating and preventing social welfare fraud.
