Ken Nagle shows us around his 1971 Triumph Stag and tells us why it was love at first sight when spotted it 10 years ago.

What are you currently driving?

I’ve a very nice 1971 Triumph Stag which I take out at the weekends. My everyday car is a VW Tiguan.

Love at first sight or means to get from A to B?

Love at first sight. I saw it in Classic Car Weekly about 10 years ago.

It was in great condition and so I had it shipped over from England.

I’ve always been interested in Triumphs, they were well ahead of their time — including electric steering and electric windows.

What is under the bonnet?

It’s a 3 litre V8. It’s been trouble-free in the 10 years I’ve had it.

Petrol head or Sunday driver?

I’ve always been interested in cars going back the years.

What was your first car?

My first car was 1974 Morris Oxford

What else do/did own?

A 1982 Mercedes Benz 380SL convertible 1982, a MGB GT and a BMW 42T.

Dream drive in dream location?

If I won the Lotto in the morning I’d buy a Ford Capri Brooklands 280 in British Racing Green — that would be my top car.

My dream drive would be from Lismore through the Vee to Clogheen in Spring when the Rhododendrons are in full bloom — it’s beautiful.

Passenger you’d bring on a long journey?

It would have to be my wife Eileen. She likes social aspect and the scenery on vintage runs.

Passenger you would least like?

I have no time for backseat drivers.

What is on your play list?

I like to listen to local radio, for news and the music.
