New Toyota Aygo goes on market
The Aygo, which is a sister car to both the Peugeot 108 and the Citroen C1 and is manufactured in France and Toyota says the new car retains the ‘fun-to-drive’ aspect of its predecessor, but now offers more choice, more equipment and the latest in multimedia technology.
The new Aygo continues to be available with 1.0 VVT-i engine in both 5 speed manual transmission and ‘x-shift’ automated manual transmission, but Toyota says CO2 emissions have been reduced by 4g to 95g for manual and 7g to 97g for x-shift.
Features of the new car — which is set to be as individualised as many new cars these days — include an adjustable speed limiter which allows the driver to pre-set a speed and the system then suppresses acceleration so that the vehicle speed does not exceed the pre-set limit
Aygo New AYGO is available in three grades with two further special editions, all of which come with generous levels of equipment.
The ‘x’ grade comes with 14” steel wheels with wheel caps, black carbon textured front x, x-tension & diffuser, black door handles & mirrors, LED daytime running lights, six airbags, vehicle stability control (VSC), hill-start assist control (HAC), central locking, electric front windows and a two speaker radio with USB connection.
The ‘X-Play’ adds 15” silver alloys wheels, front fog lights, piano black front x & x-tension, colour door handles, power and heated door mirrors, a 4 speaker audio system, steel grey dashboard and air vent surrounds, Bluetooth, leather steering wheel and steering wheel mounted audio controls.
Air con. and ‘x-touch’ multimedia system with 7” touch screen come with the x-play+ version, while the x-cite and x-clusive versions are the ones where you can really play around with colour schemes and upholsteries, etc.
Toyota also say that there will be an Aygo configurator coming in the next few weeks which will allow customers to configure various combinations of the custom packs which can then be saved or downloaded.
We will be testing one in the near future and, given our past liking for the more diminutive motors out there, then I suspect this one will find favour too.
