When Aloysius ‘Weeshie’ Fogarty walked out the front gate of his home at O’Sullivan’s Place, off St Anne’s Road in Killarney, his first step of the day was left or right into sporting conversation.

We sadly never got to ask him which it was, but in the countless number of interviews he conducted, Weeshie Fogarty had either a tick or a tactic of asking in that endearing, warm Kerry drawl: “What does it mean to….?” or “tell me, how did it feel to…?”

Legendary GAA commentator, referee and broadcaster, Weeshie Fogarty has died at the age of 77.
