The crew of the LÉ Samuel Beckett has rescued 40 people off the coast of Tripoli.

The Irish Naval Vessel, the LÉ Samuel Beckett, has been involved in a third search and rescue operation of the coast of Tripoli today.

The Irish naval vessel LE Samuel Beckett has been involved in the rescue of 227 people off the Libyan coast this morning.

At 5pm today, the Lé Eithne successfully located and rescued a small craft with 113 persons on board that was in distress 40 km north of Tripoli, Libya.​
