I WAS flabbergasted to read that Bank of Ireland is about to shed 2,000 jobs even though it had a gross profit of €1.3 billion.

IN his letter headlined ‘Our shameful footnote to Congo horror story’, John O’Shea of GOAL (Irish Examiner, November 8) referred to the millions that the Irish Government donated in aid to Uganda each year, giving rise to ‘suspicions’ that it somehow helps that country to perpetrate human rights abuses and other illegal activities in the Congo.
