A tropical storm warning was issued today for parts of the Texas and Louisiana coasts as a tropical depression intensified in the Gulf of Mexico.

An invigorated Hurricane Claudette bore down on the Texas shore today, lashing the coast with heavy wind and rain and chasing some people to higher ground inland.
