THREE students from Athlone Institute of Technology are being treated for serious injuries after they were struck by a car in Athlone, Co Westmeath, early yesterday.

The death toll on Ireland's roads this year has already reached 50 following two more fatal accidents in Co Dublin and Co Wexford yesterday.

A two year-old boy died in a crash in north Co Dublin this afternoon.
