The death toll on Ireland's roads this year has already reached 50 following two more fatal accidents in Co Dublin and Co Wexford yesterday.

A two-year-old boy died when the car he was travelling in collided with a tractor at Lispopple Cross in Swords, Co Dublin, at around 3.20pm.

A man in his 40s, meanwhile, died when his car collided with a lorry outside Enniscorthy in Co Wexford at around 5.40pm.

The accidents were the latest in a string of crashes throughout the country that claimed a total of six lives within a 24-hour period.
