Gardaí are continuing to question a teenager in relation to a hit-and-run in Dublin yesterday that has left a young man in a serious condition in hospital.

A convicted armed robber who was caught by a garda surveillance operation at the "handover" of a semiautomatic pistol has been given a six-year sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

A substantial cash reward was offered today for information which leads to the capture of a gang who viciously attacked a south Dublin man leaving him hospitalised for the last year.

Gardaí have for the third time appealed for the public's assistance with their inquiry into the assault on 40-year-old Vincent O'Brien in Bluebell, Dublin last August.
