Crimestoppers offer reward for information in assault case
Gardaí have for the third time appealed for the public's assistance with their inquiry into the assault on 40-year-old Vincent O'Brien in Bluebell, Dublin last August.
Mr O'Brien has remained in hospital since three men attacked him, kicking him in the head and upper body, at about 2.45am near the Huband Road on August 18, 2005.
Mr O’Brien’s mother and sister are also urging people to come forward. They have said that Vincent will need residential care for the rest of his life because of his injuries.
Crimestoppers, an anonymous freephone service, is offering a cash reward for any useful information that would help gardaí with the investigation.
Gardaí handed out a number of leaflets yesterday appealing to the residents of the Huband Road to assist them with their inquiries.
Superintendent Eddie Quirke is leading the investigation and is encouraging people to contact Kilmainham garda station or the Crimestoppers group with any information they think may be helpful.
He sad they are looking for three male youths in their mid to late twenties who would have fled the scene on foot a short time after the assault took place.
The Superintendent said he is confident they will be able to make arrests soon.
