IT needs to be made crystal clear to Taoiseach Brian Cowen that it is totally unacceptable to consider the matter of the ‘independent’ TD allowance closed just because Beverley Flynn has agreed not to claim it personally but to allow it be paid to Fianna Fáil.

WHAT was the point of your editorial (‘It’s time for the Greens to grow up’, January 21) taking the party to task for how it has approached the decision about its stance regarding the Lisbon Treaty? After all, they are simply copying the way their political masters in Fianna Fáil act when any issue that transcends petty parochial politics needs to be addressed.

I AM giving fair warning: the next time I hear someone moan about the Government I’ll grill them about who they voted for in the last three general elections, and if I hear any mention of Fianna Fáil or the PDs, that person can expect a short, sharp slap.
