FG politicians got proper political donations only and it’s all accounted for

WHAT a load of nonsense by Cllr Tom Brabazon (Letters, February 12).

The fact that Fine Gael failed to pay the social insurance tax on staff salaries for a short period doesn’t make it right for Fianna Fáil to rip off the State to the tune of millions.

If FF wasn’t so corrupt in the first place, there would be no need for these tribunals which have cost the taxpayer millions investigating the actions of a small group of people who have managed to rot the Irish political process to the core.

Politicians meeting with the representatives of a lobby group was never the issue.

The issue is why people who meet FF politicians always come away with a lighter wallet.

There hasn’t been a single allegation that anyone in Fine Gael ever received money for anything other than a proper political donation and any money received by FG politicians has been accounted for to the penny.

Neither John Bruton nor Enda Kenny has ever been under the slightest suspicion that they received corrupt payments, which is a claim very few FF politicians can make.
