A viable pipe bomb has been thrown at a house in west Belfast.

A teenager was shot in a west Belfast street today after a failed attempt to kidnap and murder him, his family claimed.

A 29-year-old man appeared in court in the North today charged in connection with the kidnap of a 16-year-old boy for a £100,000 ransom last week.

Police in the North are questioning a man about a hit-and-run crash in west Belfast which claimed the life of a teenage girl.
