THE next time somebody with a shotgun freaks out and blows away a stranger (who knows, perhaps it will be a Fine Gael canvasser?), will Michael Ring TD still spout his mantra — “This man never broke the law in his life?”)

I WAS delighted to read the article by Harry McGee reviewing the criminal law in relation to the age-old rights enjoyed by accused people on trial (Irish Examiner, October 21).

I WONDER how Ireland’s greatest sportsman, Roy Keane, must have felt when the GAA board in his own county tried to deprive him of ever playing in Croke Park?
