A Cork fertility clinic has claimed a world-first in achieving a pregnancy where use of a ground-breaking technique ensured a couple, at risk of passing on a severe genetic disease to their unborn child, did not do so.

A fertility clinic in Cork is the first in Ireland to introduce a service which promises a 90%-plus survival rate for frozen embryos, as they will be frozen 600 times faster than before.
