Forgotten horse of the season Winker Watson is still on course to make his eventual return to the track in next week’s St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Winker Watson will have his unbeaten juvenile status tested for the first time in the Stan James 2000 Guineas on May 3 after Peter Chapple-Hyam announced the colt will head to Newmarket without a prep race.

High-class colt Winker Watson will not run again this year after meeting with a slight setback.

Peter Chapple-Hyam has reported his July Stakes winner Winker Watson to have come out of the race in tip-top shape.

Winker Watson will follow the route taken by stablemate Dutch Art last season following his last-gasp success in the TNT July Stakes at Newmarket.
