Attacks on Catholics in one of Northern Ireland’s most sectarian towns have been slashed after a year-long security clampdown, a police chief said today.

Police in Larne, Co Antrim, are due to meet local community leaders this afternoon to discuss an ongoing campaign of attacks against Catholic families in the area.

A 28-year-old man was today expected to appear before magistrates in Belfast on charges in connection to the attacks of two women in Belfast.
